The plan was to take the ferry from Monterosso al Mare to Vernazza. By the time we traversed the long and winding road and found the parking lot, we had to almost run to catch the ferry. We hopped on and headed to Vernazza. It was a very short ferry ride, but very picturesque.

Upon arrival, we climbed up to the top of Castello Doria. The views of the town were fantastic. We then walked around the town and ended up relaxing at a street side cafe for adult beverages and a snack.

We decided to take the local train back to Monterossa al Mare. We enjoyed our first gelato as we strolled around the town. We then got back on the road to our final destination, Rapallo.

Our hotel in Rapallo was a true 5 star resort hotel. Our balcony overlooked the Mediterranean Sea and was the perfect place to unwind. After a lengthy discussion about where to have dinner, we decided to walk to the Restaurante Luca (not to be confused with the Restaurante da Luka in Viareggio). We had a fabulous meal of Ligurian cuisine. Our waiter Alessandro, was very friendly and gave us good advice on what to order. Tom had tried a local drink, grappa, the night before so he asked for it again. Apparently, it is custom not to charge for grappa. Tom and Bill thought that was a wonderful custom.

We walked back to the hotel after dinner and had a nightcap on the balconey. What a wonderful day.

Dad you sure are eating a lot this trip. Lol inside joke. ;)
